From Social Work to Data Analytics

Hi, I’m Irshaad Sheikh – a Junior Data Analyst with a unique background in social care, IT support, and technical self-education.

My journey into tech started with a simple question: How can I use data to make better decisions – in business, in society, and in life?
Coming from a background in social work, I learned early how systems operate, how people behave under pressure, and how structure and empathy can unlock transformation. These insights now fuel my work with data.

I specialize in SQL, R, Excel, Tableau, and Google Cloud, and I hold professional certificates from Google, Microsoft, and IBM. My strength lies in breaking down complex problems into clear, actionable insights – whether through dashboards, data cleaning, or operational analytics.

I’m also neurodivergent – I think in systems, patterns, and possibilities. While this may come with some quirks, it also gives me the ability to hyperfocus, spot irregularities quickly, and approach problems with unconventional logic.
Rather than seeing this as a limitation, I’ve come to see it as one of my most valuable assets.
